Thesis Title

Integrated Planning of Electricity and Hydrogen Systems

Research Overview

With the potential growth in large electricity loads and the increasing integration of renewables in the power system, integrated planning of electricity and hydrogen (H₂) systems is becoming essential. This research focuses on developing a generalisable optimisation-based planning framework for integrated electricity and H₂ systems that captures techno-economic trade-offs across electricity and H₂ generation, storage, transmission, and demand-side flexibility. The work aims to assess and quantify the system-level values of H₂ transmission, flexible electrolyser operation, hybrid energy hubs, and data centre flexibility in long-term infrastructure planning.
