David Caro labs

The micro- and nano-optics laboratory is pursuing the development of new optical devices based on micro- and nanostructured materials. New optical devices include photodetectors, lasers, holograms, and devices for optical trapping (nanotweezers).

This includes:

  • Systems for photodetector characterisation (responsivity spectra) at wavelengths from the visible to the long-wave infrared and from room temperature to liquid nitrogen temperatures.
  • A probe station and source measure units for electrical measurements. Facilities for hologram characterisation and an optical tweezers microscope system. A number of spectrometers and light sources are available for characterisation of fabricated devices from the visible to the long-wave infrared.
